    Hello!
I want to create new widget area in my header.
I’m using basic theme – Twenty Ten 1.2 by WordPress.
My aim is to create a dropdown menu in header that is modified by JQuery Mega Menu plugin.
I am pretty new to WP world but I know something in CSS/HTML.
I found in Codex “widgetizing article but I am not sure – is this what I am looking for? ??

    Please help ??

  • that article is a good starting point.

‘in my header’ is not a very precise location for a widget …

see here for a slightly different example:

btw: twenty ten will be overwritten with your next upgrade. consider https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

I didn’t knew about overwriting with updates ?? Thanks!

By header I mean I want to place a menu horizontally, 50px from top, next to the logo on the left (not under a picture like it is after WP installation).
As far as I know, to modify menu by a widget it need to be placed in widget area – that is why I want to create it there to apply JQuery mega menu.
    Am I right/clear to you? ??

    [edit]
I thought about using created widgetarea in a sidebar, placing there div and position it relatively eg. top-150;, left-400px;.
My question: how does widget area behave? is it similar to div or what?:P

    Sorry for any language mistakes.
