I made an artist’s portfolio site (Lisa DeJohn) using WordPress for the text pages (About Me, What’s New, etc.). It’s very stripped down (no sidebar or comments, for example). I just used WordPress to make the pages easy for the artist to edit, without her having to learn any HTML.

I think it looks really great! I tried unsuccessfully to use WP to build a portfolio site a few months ago, but I grew frustrated. The site you built looks great.

However, I’m confused. I thought the menu on the left side was a sidebar… is it just html or frames?

    Again, great work!

The menu on the left is a sidebar, but it’s not the WordPress sidebar. It’s just HTML in the WordPress Page template, with a variable body id to make the current page stand out.

Absolutely fantastic in all it’s simplicity! Great work. Did you release the theme or edit an existing one? I think it’s perfectly beautiful…just right for an artist!!!
    Bravo!

Great look…. about my only complaint is that the jpgs have so many “artifacts” – makes it look “sloppy”. pngs would be better, especially for an artist’s site (this from the person on dialup…. but then again, jpg artifacts are so amateurish-looking….)

I just edited the default theme. And yeah, pngs would be higher quality, but they’d really add to the page load times.
