• Hi there,

Our website, currently Drupal 7, needs a makeover. I learned a lot, the past months, by reading dozens of webpages, and just trying with Drupal 7, 8 and WordPress.

However, I am a little lost. Please let me list my requirements and join me in selecting the best CMS option and modules.

The keyword is simplicity. We just need a webpage with 10-20 pages, and another 5-10 pages for logged in users. I would like to use e-mail addresses as user names. No public sign-up, only admins may create new users. No community features like reactions, forum, etcetera. Even no need for big user profiles and avatars. And we need a simple newsletter module, and I would like to auto-enroll website users to it. The biggest improvement, compared to the current website, will be a language selector.

Installing WordPress is easier than getting started with Drupal. However, WordPress doesn’t have the out-of-the-box user account system I’m looking for. I didn’t found a newsletter module for WordPress, like Simplenews for Drupal.

A thing I don’t like, is that a lot of WordPress modules have something like a Pro edition. Maybe I didn’t found the best options yet.

  • Both Drupal and WordPress is able to do what you need!
But Drupal user management is superior to WordPress.
The newsletter is so much better to do in MailChimp ore similar, don’t use Drupal or WordPress newsletter solutions.

OK, thank you for joyning me.

What do you prefer, reading my requirements? Do you think WordPress with extended user modules can do better than Drupal?
