New WP site based on Existing WP Site

    Hello Everybody !!!

    I have an existing and operating WP site. I want to create another WP site (different domain), based on the existing WP site.

    In addition to copying all the web folders from root of existing site to new site, I understand I also need to copy the entire MariaDB data base to a new DB for the new WP Site adding a prefix belonging to the new WP site… right?

    Also make applicable changes to the WP config file of the new WP site… right?

    Is there anything else that I could be missing?

    Hi bdbrown !!!

    I read “Moving WordPress to Another Site” and is not my case.

    What I need to do is create a NEW WP site based on the contents of an existing WP site (I own both) on the same server.

    In this case, the new WP site and the old WP site will share the SAME instance of MySQL but each site would have to have its own DB.

    The existing site already has its own DB so what I need to do is copy the existing DB into a new DB, as long as a remember, with a new prefix for the new site.

    I also remember having to make adjustments to the WP config file.

    The “how to guide” to all the above and other things I might be missing is the one I am looking for.

    You could use a plugin like Duplicator: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/duplicator/
