I have a few issues with 3.0.0. I’ll submit them in separate posts.

For New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2016), I cannot get a day-long event to appear. Events with a begin and end time do appear but not if they are checked as all-day events in Google Calendar.

This became obvious when I did not see the New Year’s Day holiday listed even though all other “all-day-event” holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and even Day After Christmas appear but nothing for New Year’s Day.

I tried the calendar I created showing New Year’s Day as an all-day event and I tried the generic Google USA Holiday calendar. Neither is displaying on New Year’s Day in 3.0.0. They do appear in 2.4.0.

    UPDATE:

    1) If I use the Google USA Holiday calendar by itself, the New Year’s Day holiday does not appear.

    2) If I use my created calendar by itself, the New Year’s Day holiday does not appear.

    3) If I create a Grouped calendar with the two above feeds, the New Year’s Day holiday now appears on the new calendar!

I would imagine there is still some problem somewhere because of the first two points.

SECOND UPDATE: I’m just getting bizarre results in a couple of areas.

I have three calendars in 3.0.0 mentioned above: Google USA Holidays, my created calendar, and a grouped calendar of the first two.

I discovered that the 3.0.0 uses something called Events Script Source as the timezone default selection instead of using the WordPress default timezone. I suggest this be changed to the WordPress default timezone. Two of my maps had the Events Script Source as the default timezone because I didn’t catch it.

HOWEVER, when I changed the timezone to CST, Central Standard Time, -6 GMT, the New Year’s Day holiday moved to New Year’s Eve! December 31 is now showing both New Year’s Eve AND New Year’s Day and New Year’s Day is once again blank!

Further check my post with TakerMH. My five-day all-day event from 12/28 to 1/1 inclusive now does not show on 1/1 but it shows on 1/2! Hovering over 1/2 says it ends on 1/2 but it doesn’t. Are you counting 12:00 midnight as the new day or the old day?

I need a cup of coffee.

Ok so I am not sure why the event would not be showing up on New Year’s Day. I will have to look to see if anything is causing that.

I do want to touch on your other points though.

The timezone setting is set to “Events Source” by default because this is the timezone that the event on the calendar is set in. So basically, if you have a calendar you can set the timezone at say UTC-5, but then you can set events at UTC-7 if you wanted. And then another layer is the WP timezone which could be set at UTC+5.

So you can see that there are at least 3 different places the timezone can come from. This is why it seemed logical to use the actual timezone set on the event because it matches the data that is pulled in.

I also saw your other post about the multi-day issue and have responded there.

    Thanks

Is this still an issue for you even on the latest version (3.0.9)?

I hard-coded calendar changes in Google to “force” WP Calendar to work. Though I’ve had the latest version of WP Calendar, I haven’t “uncoded” the Google calendar. I will test out the new version as new all-day events occur.

Were you able to test this out yet?

Assuming this is resolved since there has not been a reply here. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

    Thanks!
