• I have never edited themes or created one. I have very basic web knowledge. I use Adobe Go live to edit my page. Is it hard to edit themes? I started to read some of the guidelines and it looked difficult. I am looking for guidance before I get in over my head.

  • Hi,
I don’t know Adobe Go Live – I’m guessing it’s something that has WYSIWYG and generates code for you? If you’re not comfortable editing code (HTML, CSS, and to a lesser extent, PHP), then you will have trouble building a new theme, IMO.

Likewise with templates created from Photoshop or Dreamweaver. You end up with some generated HTML code, CSS, image slices, and in many cases their funny little bits of Javascript for effects. But you need to hook WP into that material, and invariably this will require some code editing, including small bits of PHP. You also need to grasp how a WP theme is structured, and to get all that WP offers, this is a bunch of work. This goes beyond the skillset required to make a Photoshop template or static site.

If you want to change an existing theme and are uncomfortable coding, that might still be possible with some practice and study.

    That’s my 2 cents.

That’s what it looked like when I started reading about it. I am trying to get my blog to match my site. I think I will try to find someone who could do it. Anyone have any suggestions?
