Newbie help….Please

  • good morning people please help me…..I am a 50 odd year old that just wants a website for blogging….I have built the website but am becoming increasingly confused with what the heck is going on!!

    I bought the domain through wordpress but now have bills, emails and info requests from all sorts of places (bluehost) and I just want everything simplified so I have one bill, one place to alter my blog and an easy life…the most recent was a request for a CSL code for my SSL cert (???) a simple host search brings up Unifiedlayer as my host but I have no idea how that happened and I just want it simple and easy….please advise my best steps to make this old fella have an easy life!!

  • OK so the is www.ads-software.com which is the opensource software platform for WordPress software, if that make sense.

    The WordPress software itself is not a total solution but as you have discovered requires domains, DNS, hosting, SSL certificate and possible email services all on top.

    If you have the technical desire to manage all these things you can create an inexpensive solution but at the penalty of your self management of the tech.

    But

    I just want it simple and easy

    So I would recommend you use a fully managed service. There are many platforms available, but as you have already purchased your domain from WordPress.com ( not this WordPress ) then I would recommend considering moving over to their fully manage service
