• I’m using godaddy right now for my site. I’m using their managed wordpress, and i’m trying to set up FTP with filezilla. I downloaded the server, installed it on my PC, but now i’m stumped. All the tutorial videos on youtube are pretty outdated and kind of confusing to follow. Are there any easier guides out there, or perhaps one of you can help me out?

I would recommend chatting with godaddy support staff about getting filezilla connected to webhosting credentials since you need to get the credentials exactly right or it will be frustrating to connect.

filezilla looks intimidating when you first start using it but it does get easier as you use it regularly.

Even after several years of using filezilla, I still need help from the hosting company sometimes with the credentials to access my website.

Go to File > Site Manager to add an account with any name of your own choosing. Then for BlueHost, I use my domain.com (actual name) for “host”, Protocol as FTP (or preferably SFTP), Logon Type as “Normal”, then my cPanel (hosting account) username and password. To use SFTP for better security (no cache), you might have to ask your host for some help to know what to select for Port, if anything.

Just to check, did you download Filezilla Server or Filezilla Client? I only ask becuase you said this:

    I downloaded the server

The probram that you want is Filezilla Client. The server is meant to create an FTP server on that PC, not to connect with your sites FTP server. The difference doesn’t sound like that much, but it is pretty huge.

The program that you want is Filezilla Client.

Ah, good catch. I had noticed that but had assumed it actually meant client, and I bet that is the problem.
