• Downloaded the odyssey theme from “not(that)ugly” and installed the folder in the themes section. This is the error I received.

“The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template”

Looks like I followed the instructions.

    suggestions?

  • Are you using WP 1.2 or 1.5?

in wp 1.5 at least, this will happen if the author doesn’t supply the php files, but does supply the CSS and Images …

    using 1.5

    >>this will happen if the author doesn’t supply the php files, but does supply the CSS and Images <<

Where do I go from here?

Contact the author I think, and let them know, they should be able to help you (after all they made it). If that’s no use come back and perhaps we can take it from there

yup, sorry about the vagueness, contact the author as jinsan says, or try perhaps to adapt some other php files to that theme …

Graygeek: you have to install all the folders supplied with the Odyssey Theme Pack. From the installation.txt file provided with the Zip:

    1. Unzip the file, ensuring that the "Use folder names" checkbox is selected.
    2. You should have four folders: gemini, arthurium, fu-default and ma-default.
    3. Upload these folders and all their contents to the wp-content/themes directory in your 1.5 install.
    4. Log in, go to "Presentation", and activate the theme of your choice.

    Ryan Boren’s tutorial: https://boren.nu/archives/2004/11/10/anatomy-of-a-wordpress-theme/

The Odyssey themes all use the same templates so all the folders in the zip must be uploaded to your /themes directory, regardless of whether you plan to use all or just one of them.

I am in the process of developing some upgraded themes and plan to install the Theme Switcher plugin at my WP15 testbed, https://testbeds.webjones.org/wp15/

    So stay tuned.

And P.S. I wish someone would go ahead and correct the misnomer, “Arthurium.” That theme was created by me from an original photograph I took of an ANthurium bloom. ??

I think the php files might be there. Which one am I looking for?

I can “dogpaddle” with Jedit if I need to change something. I know just enough to be dangerous.

There’s no need for that. If you downloaded Root’s Odyssey zip, simply unzip all the files into your /themes directory, keeping the directory structure intact, as explained above. Once you do so, all will work as expected.

Many tnx – will try that and come back if there is still a problem

Eureka! – 3 out of 4 themes Work – Arthurium was missing

I’m having the same problem. Moved my blog from blogsome to own server.
Want to install the Rubric theme. Author’s website does not work.
I downloaded Rubric from David King’s site and from b2evolution.
Both folders have different content. The latter one has more files.
Not sure how to make this work.
Can I use the php files which are in the Default or Classic Theme?
Where do the folks here go to get their themes?

Grievous apologies to Joni for the typo. Hopefully her next gorgeous style will be called something simple – like reb ??

    Mikofox,
Are you using WP 1.2 or 1.5? Rubric is a style for 1.2 version, and themes can be used only in WP 1.5.
If you want to convert a 1.2 style into a theme, see the codex:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Themes#Moving_from_1.2.x_to_1.5
    and all the related readings.

Thanks for the link. There is a 1.5 Rubrik version. Installed it and it shows, but together with a whole bunch of text. The template shows with an error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_theme_switcher() in //wordpress/wp-content/themes/rubric/index.php on line 78
I’ll see what the author thinks.
    Might be a small problem.

Well the index has the theme switcher code but you do not seem to have it installed.
