Newbie Q. summaries and template

  • Hi,

    I am new to wordpress and have been searching for how to do these 2 things to no avail. If someone could help I’d really appreciate it.

    1. I can’t log-in from any page except Home, and my other sidebar links I put into the sidebar code are missing except from the home page. How can I set them to be on all pages?

    2. Is it possible to have not my entire blog entries on the front page but only a 100 word summary of each that has a link like ‘read more’ for each? I found this for RSS but not normal view?

  • I’m new as well so I cannot help with your first question. As for your second, though, you can use the “more” icon in the “Write Post” screen (or insert “<!–more–>” if you’re using the “Code” tab).

    Thanks, that was helpful. I solved my first question on my own. Presentation >> Theme Editor >> Sidebar. Search for this line

    <?php /* If this is the frontpage */ if ( is_home() || is_page() ) { ?>

    Anything under that seems to be only displayed on the home page, anything above it remains there any page with a sidebar.
