Newbie Question

  • I would like to add some code to the home page of my site but i dont know the name of the file to add it to. What is the name of the file that is my home page?

  • Look in your chosen theme’s folder for a file named index.php. Note: Do not edit the index.php file in your WordPress folder.

    So if i wanted to add code for a counter or Adsense i would place it there? Will all of the pages on the site be located in the themes folder?

    Yes, all site pages will be in your chosen theme’s folder. Sidebar code is in sidebar.php, header code is in header.php, footer code is in footer.php, page code is in page.php, post code is in single.php, and so forth. Make sure that you save a backup copy of any file you edit just in case something goes wrong.
