Newbie question about validation hook

    Hello.

    Sorry for the stupid question but I am a beginner both of wordpress and CF7.

    I read and understood this article about custom validation from Takayuki Miyoshi (https://contactform7.com/2015/03/28/custom-validation/).

    The basic question is: where I need to cut&paste this code in order to try it?

    I tried both directly on the form and on additional setting of CF7 section but with no result.

    Which is the right place to put it?

    Anywhere you can code in PHP. Some devs like to make an independent plugin for that. Some put that into their theme’s functions.php file.

    Ok, thank you.
    I think I will not be able to write a plugin ??
    Howver I read somewhere that changing theme’s *.php files is usually not a good idea.
    Can I code also somewhere in CF7 itself, for example on additional setting of CF7?

    What do you suggest for a newbie that is not so diffult but at the same time not want discouraged by the best practices?
