Newbie Question Starting to develop

  • Hi everyone,

    I’m just about to start developing my WordPress website. I’m learning new things everyday about it.

    One simple question I’m still stuck on. On my Domain name / hosting service provider they all tell me how to install WordPress to my Domain name. However what they do not say is once you install wordPress is it then automatically live available on the Internet.

    Basically I do not want people about the world to be able to see what I’m doing.

  • Unless you provide people with a URL to your website, no one will know your website exists. There is an option (checkbox) within the settings that prevents your website from being indexed. And as long as you do not connect any services such as (analytics etc.) you will be fine. Alternatively, you can use this plugin to put your site in maintenance mode so that only you can view it while logged in.

    Many thanks for your information so I can install WordPress on my Domain name and it will not appear
