• Hi, I’ve seen this issue in older posts, but haven’t figured out how to solve it myself.

Exact message reads: Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2015/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Someone else set up this WordPress site for me to play around with, so I might need to go to her if she needs to change permissions.

I did go to settings, media and tried checking and unchecking the box about organizing uploads into month and year based folders. I increased the file sizes so the file shouldn’t be too large.

I have successfully added a theme and a plugin, but this was my first attempt to upload an image.

  • It looks like a permissions error. I would get in touch with the person who set your WordPress site up to investigate.

    Thanks for your response.

My theme is Spacious by ThemeGrill and my site is https://www.uproc.lib.mi.us/pwplinfo/.

I have a book with a chapter on Parent Child themes. It looked complicated, but I suppose I will try to clear out some space in my brain and just read it. It’s probably not impossible.

Will child/parent themes help me control home my header image displays on each page? Right now how it is set up on the front page of the site is exactly how I want it for 50% of the site (it changes with each refresh of the page). But for the other half of the site I’d prefer a static image or no image.
