  • as this would be the default behaviour for wordpress themes, the question is why is it different in your site.

    does your front page template (index.php?) have a custom query?
    (some code with ‘query’ before the loop?)

    No, no custom query that I know of. The theme I’m using is Twenty Ten.

    try deactivating all plugins –
    and if that solves the problem, re-activate one after the other to see which one was causing the issue.
