    Hello.

Although there are newer reviews in Google, they haven’t shown up on the homepage for months. I want the most recent reviews to be on top. What is curious is that it worked perfectly for months and suddenly (for about 4 months) no more new reviews are loaded from Google, although more recent, detailed reviews are available there.
I have written to your support several times about this, but never received an answer.
For this reason, I am now trying this public way.
    I hope for your feedback.

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

    Markus

@babufrik Thanks for sharing the URL. I’ll have a look at the Place API data of the relevant reviews returned and get back to you.

@babufrik I did receive your direct email, but I must have missed replying to this query. I usually respond within a day, so apologies for not replying.

I have checked your reviews/retrieved data using your Place ID and I do receive more recent reviews (2 at a month, two at 3 months and one at 4 months).

Can you check your Retrieved Data tab – does that show the reviews [by age] mentioned here?

Sometimes the CRON (regular task) may be disrupted, so I would recommend checking this if the reviews are all older than 4 months.

If you want to force refresh the reviews, you can manually do this in the Advanced tab and press: Clear Cache.

@babufrik I just rechecked your reviews on the website and I suspect there is a minimum character/word count there – if so, this will exclude some of your more recent reviews. These are actually the relevant reviews I’d expect to see here.

    Hi.
Please don’t worry about the unanswered request. No problem, that can happen. Now we are in contact.

There are indeed more recent reviews than the ones displayed.

The Data Retrieved tab shows only 5 of the reviews and they are in no order (4 – 5 – 5 – 3 – 5 months).
The newer ones – and there are – are not displayed.

According to Google, the missing new reviews are 1-1-3 months old.

I’ve cleared the cache dozens of times.

I set it up so that actually all ratings should be displayed, without any restrictions in terms of the number of words or special characters etc.
As I said, I’m not limiting it to relevant reviews.

The ad stops with a review by a certain Anne Neuberg. She only wrote a few words, but posted 4 pictures. This is the first of the ratings that will no longer be displayed. Then there are newer ones that are formulated in more detail.`

@babufrik Please can you share the Shortcode with the parameters that you’re using here? You’ve said there are no restrictions in the main Setup tab.

The Retrieved Data will show the 5 most relevant reviews – this is not the same as the most recent and I find that it rarely matches date order. I doubt this is a caching issue, it’s more likely the newer reviews are deemed as less relevant and not making it to the top five most relevant. The language setting is a factor – so you may have it as German or just not specified (which may make a difference).

I will be adding an update to the plugin soon that will allow you to manually collect only new reviews, but this isn’t fully implemented yet in the plugin’s Settings user interface. This is the main reason for the delayed release.

I am having the same issue. Exact scenario as @babufrik . The shortcode I am using is [reviews_rating]

@eyextacy Have you checked both your Retrieved Data and any restrictions set in the main Setup tab?

You can share your Place ID (or a link) so I check this for you and report back with the expected relevant reviews (not necessarily the newest reviews).

Thanks @eyextacy. I’ll check this out in the morning.

In the meantime, check the reviews you see in the Google search results (relevant reviews) against the Retrieved Data. If this is matching, then it’s all working as expected.

Yes, they match. I guess the confusion I have is there are 225 reviews on google and 209 retrieved.

    The shortcode I’m using is: [reviews_rating sort=”date_desc”]
As a test I’ve changed it to [reviews_rating] but that makes no difference.
I’d like to show the most recent reviews. I’m not interested in the most relevant ones.

    My setup:

    review limit: show all reviews
    carousel view: blank
sort by: date descending (new -> old)
    evaluation area: 1 – 5
number of characters for summary: 200
    retreval language: german
    update frequency: synchronize hourly

Thanks @babufrik. This is very informative.

I do understand that you just want all the newest reviews, no matter their relevance. However, the current version of the plugin only collects the 5 most relevant reviews through the Places API. This means that your catalogue may not have the most recent (yet not as relevant) reviews. Sorting by date will only sort reviews that exist within the catalogue.

So, there are a couple of ways to address this:

    1. Use the HTML Import feature in the Advanced tab to collect all reviews that exist in the Google search results
    2. Wait for the next version of the plugin that will allow you to collect reviews through the Places API that are new rather than relevant. This may require a manual switch (once).

Thank you @extreme, love the HTML import feature, looking forward to the new release. Love this plugin!

The HTML import worked and showed the wished effect. Great!
    Thanx a lot!
Now I’m looking forward to the next version of the plugin.

Wish you all a nice and peaceful time! Stay healthy!
