New Meetup events take a day to show in WP Meetup

  • If I create a new event in Meetup it takes a day before WP Meetup picks it up and adds it to it’s calendar. What can I do to make it show up more quickly? Preferably nearly immediately.

    Hey Anomaly69,

    We have the plugin querying Meetup.com once a day currently. This is done because it is an API which takes time and slows down your site. It is completely possible to have the events show up immediately. However, every time you view a page on your site or someone visiting your site views a page, the plugin would then pull all of your events from Meetup.com, filter through them to see if there are any new events to be added, add all new events, update existing events, and then update all event posts. As you can imagine, this would site down your site a lot.

    An alternative would be to add an event on Meetup.com, and then go into your WP Meetup settings page and click the “Update Events” button which will manually do the query that I mentions above.

    Ok that makes sense.

    But it should be possible to check every 3 hours, or something like that without too much problem right? Is there a clock or counter or something somewhere in the code that I can alter to achieve that?
