    Hi,

I just installed WP Fastest Cache. It doesn’t appear to me that it’s working. I logged out and I looked for the text at the bottom of the source pages and don’t see anything, as well as anything else in the page source. I watched your video and looked at the screenshots–it’s very easy to set up so I’m sure I did as directed.

The one thing I worry about is that my website setup might not be standard. I have a main site built out of pure HTML pages that sits and https://www.pjmconsult.com, and my wordpress blog is at https://www.pjmconsult.com/index.php. That’s the only thing that might be a little weird, otherwise a pretty simple blog. I’d like to use your plugin–can you check it for me or give me some other instructions?

    Thanks,

    Phil

  • Hi Phil,

Setting up your two sites in the manner you mentioned above is not ideal and can cause problems.

If you want to set up your WordPress website in it’s own folder it would work better for you with your current set up.

    The first question to ask.

    1) What is your main website, the html URL or the WordPress install?

Decide first which one is going to be your main website, then we can tackle further how to set up your current installation and get the cache plugin to work correctly.

    Kind regards

    Hi,
    Thanks for your fast response.

Sorry, maybe I don’t understand your question. I thought I explained it above:

“I have a main site built out of pure HTML pages that sits and https://www.pjmconsult.com, and my wordpress blog is at https://www.pjmconsult.com/index.php.”

The fact that the wordpress portion isn’t the homepage is what makes it non-standard, I’m aware–as I said above.

This isn’t a new site; it’s an existing site that’s been running for years. I’m just trying to get the plugin running on the wordpress portion. Maybe I didn’t understand your question. I’m not going to totally reconfigure my site just to get this plugin to run.

    Thanks,

    Phil

Hi Phil, sorry if I did not explain myself correctly.

Of course I don’t want you to reconfigure your website.

However if you are going to use WordPress it might be best to add it as a sub-domain. Your current domain is https://www.pjmconsult.com so your wordpress could be https://wpdomain.pjmconsult.com or you might like to add WordPress to a folder and call it https://www.pjmconsult.com/wordpress/.

I am just trying to help you avoid issues in the future. However if the above is not what you want then lets look at how we can get the cache plugin working in your current WordPress install. Can you let us know if you have a .htaccess file created in your server?

    Kind regards

    Hi MBRSolution,

I want to thank you for trying to help me. I got it working–there was a remnant from WP Super Cache (which I tried but couldn’t get to work) that apparently was keeping it from working. Once I deleted it and reinstalled the Fastest Cache Plugin it worked.

But…. I did a speed test and the results were very disappointing. On the Google Webmaster tools PageSpeed Insights test it went from 80/100 w/o the cache plugin to 83/100—just a few percent. Not what I expected, hardly worth it. Are these results typical or could there be something wrong?

    Thanks Again,

    Phil

Hi Phil, the cache will increase the loading speed of pages as they are rendered in html format plus the process is pulled from the cache all the time.

Now in regards to speed there are other factors involved that might cause your website to be slow. For example.

    1) The kind server your website is running on.
    2) Your host might limit your resources.
    3) Too many plugins running at the same time.
    4) Bad theme designed and buggy plugins.

The list can go on. But I think you get the idea.

Let us know if you need more help.

    Kind regards

I understand that it’s now working and that there are many things that effect website speed. But when I test speed test my pages using Google Webmaster tools, it leads me to believe that some features of the plugin aren’t doing what would be expected, based on the features I set up in the interface. Here are the results I get from Google when I speed test https://www.pjmconsult.com/index.php:

    Consider Fixing:
    Reduce server response time
    Optimize images
    Minify CSS
    Minify JavaScript
    Minify HTML
    3 Passed Rules
    Avoid landing page redirects
Your page has no redirects. Learn more about avoiding landing page redirects.
    Enable compression
You have compression enabled. Learn more about enabling compression.
    Prioritize visible content
You have the above-the-fold content properly prioritized. Learn more about prioritizing visible content.

It doesn’t look to me like the Minify features of the plugin are doing anything.
