    Post types don’t belong in themes. Plus, they’re not even allowed in themes on www.ads-software.com (other than in very special circumstances).

    no ability to support comments on the home page

    It’s very possible to do this, but it’s not a standard theme feature. I can count on one hand the number of themes I’ve ever seen for WordPress that does this out of the box.

    bloated layout

    I agree, but it seems to be what some folks are looking for in this type of theme.
