And no, it is not mandatory – but helpful if you want to be found well.

My question is related to wordpress. Whether the news article sitemap is mandatory if I have published some news articles on my website.

I’m using yoast free version.

For WordPress a SitemapXML is completely irrelevant. You can also do without it from WordPress point of view.

The problem is that external services recommend to use it. From their point of view (e.g. Google Search Console) such a sitemap can be quite useful. Therefore, it is still not a WordPress issue, but one of the external services you want to serve.

If you use Yoast, you can also contact their support forum if you have further questions about it. Or even the Google Search Console forum, where they can tell you much more whether from Google’s point of view such a sitemap is absolutely recommended.

I use the Yoast plugin on my site. But I want to make news sitemap for my website and it is in the premium version of Yoast so how can I make it in an alternate way?
