NewsGator spam

  • Hello,

    Can anyone tell me exactly what NewsGator is? I’ve been getting a slew of requests from it over the past several days – it behaves very rudely, hammering my blog with multiple requests over the course of a few seconds and repeatedly requesting the same pages. I blocked it once, and now it’s returned from a different IP address. I’m probably going to block it again, but is there a more effective way to get it to throttle back or lay off altogether?

  • well, someone must’ve subscribed to your blog’s RSS feed and they use NewsGator as an RSS Reader.

    So, what you want to eliminate is the ability for that person (or people) to follow your blog via the NewsGator RSS reader.

    You can look at newsgator’s website…. https://newsgator.com – there might be somewhere on there that you can contact them to fix the problem, or some info to help you sort it out.

    Or you could google for robots.txt and fix it that way.
