Next-gen Gallery on WordPress 2.7

I am using wordpress 2.7 and the latest version of Next-gen gallery. When I create a new gallery it does not give e the gallery id nor does the new gallery name show in the gallery drop down list. I can go to my server and the new gallery I created is showing up in the correct directory.
