NEXT Gen Gallery with custom fields

  • Hi.

    I am trying to sort of hack the THICKBOX.js file to get it to called data from the nextgen gallery custom fields plug in. I have managed to make this work on the thumbnails as only gallery.php needs to be edited and the custom fields pluging works in a nice and straighfoward way.
    What I would like to achieve is to add content to the pop up (large) image the user sees when he/she click on the thumbnail.

    so my question is
    1)Is there anyway to get the custome field data to appear here (on pop up image.)
    2)where in thickbox.js can I add a div tag so that the image is in a container in order that I can arrange the content properly withouth using padding and margins too much.

    There have been a couple requests for this in the past. The problem is that NextGEN seems to use the thickbox built into the wordpress core.

    The javascript doesn’t have access to the server side stuff anyway, so it’s not possible for this.

    do you by any chance have any experience in getting data into the pop up image that is NOT the caption? or seen it done anywhere?

    That’s a limitation of thick box. You can only get data in there that thick box will allow.
    Maybe you can hack it by using markup in the caption? I haven’t actually used thick box in ages, I can’t remember what the attributes allow.

    yeah I could use makr up but the person I am going to release the site to is not very htlm friendly so wanted to use something very GUI. have you heard of anyone using your plugin with other image rendering scripts? If I move away from lightbox with in WP and use something like showdow box?

    NextGEN templates its output. That means you can output the images anyway you want. You can use any funky rendering you choose.
    NGG CF should work as normal in any output template.

    Gives you the freedom to go wild ??
