Next Gen not updating

  • Hi, I am very new to WordPress, have read all the start up info, have the basic idea of updating and adding pages, photos etc. I have no formal computer training. The site https://www.irishlinks.ie was designed for us [The Irish Links Initiative], and I am the admin person.
    At the moment I cannot update the Next Gen Gallery Update. Ive tried deactivating the other plugins. The message keeps coming up that it cannot remove old plugin.
    Can anyone help?
