    Hi fellow NextGEN Gallery users,

After over a year of hard word, NextGEN Gallery 2.0 is now available in the WordPress plugin directory. Thank you to all the beta testers who provided useful feedback and bug reports. This is an uncommon update, and I just wanted to add some personal notes.

    WHAT’S INCLUDED

NextGEN 2.0 includes a completely reworked interface for the NextGEN options panel and for adding galleries to pages and posts. The new Attach to Post interface allows you to customize every gallery rather than having global settings that apply to all galleries.

    IF YOU HAVE ISSUES?

We recognize this is huge update to NextGEN Gallery. We’ve tested it endlessly, and pushed out betas for public testing. Despite all that, an update of this size and scope is going to produce issues, in part because of the enormously wide diversity of environments in which NextGEN is used (NextGEN will be updated on 100,000 WordPress instances within the first week).

We – and I personally – are very committed to monitoring, responding to, and resolving issues. As always, we’ll try to triage within the support forums to focus on bugs that are either:

    a) serious or
    b) affecting large number of users

But we’ll be more present in the forums for the next month or two than we generally are to ensure we’re on top of things.

Users should also expect relatively frequent updates in the next month or two as we track down these issues.

You can see other notes on what’s included below.

    Thanks very much,

    Erick
    Founder, Photocrati

@mydamon: We’re working on the invalid request issue now. If you have any security plugins installed, try deactivating them while adding galleries. That’s one cause.

@chadwickjs: I’ve responded in your other threads on this issue.

Same here, ?? the upgrade has completely destroyed my site (WP3.6)! Any new update to fix the issue?

I don′t no why: now it works perfect…

    I have WP 3.6 and NextGen 2.0.

    Kind regards.

@ermiz – We’re very sorry to hear that ?? What you could do, if you feel comfortable doing so, is try installing the latest beta from here:
    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/
It may resolve the issues you’re experiencing that are breaking the site. Otherwise, you are always free to rollback to the latest stable version, following these instructions, until we release the next update to the plugin:
    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

@mydamon – Good to hear Walter! It may have been a caching issue you saw. Let us know if anything changes, and thanks for the update! ??

    Best,
    -Becky

I have install the 2.0.2 beta version but no changes, the issue remain, i have roll back to the 1.9.13 and everything working now except the “Manage Gallery”, i get “403 Forbidden Error Page” error and the galleries are not working [Gallery not found].
i am waiting for a stable 2.0 release

    @ermiz,

What do you have your permalink settings set to? You might try resetting them to ‘post name’ > save changes, clear your browser cache and reload your site to see if that helps. Let us know.

I have find the solution for my issue, The issue caused by “Exec-PHP” plugin. When the plugin disabled then all back and working for the 1.9.13 release.
I will try to re-upgrade to 2.0 and to see if all are working also.

btw- when you re-upgrade, you might consider installing our latest beta here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/

Ok Becky tnx for the help, but need to be also compatible with all the other plugins soon because we need them in our installations.

    Hi,

Using WordPress 3.6 and Elegant themes (having the issue on a number of sites that use different themes so doesn’t seem to be theme specific) and when I updated to NextGen 2 it basically killed our homepages (90% of content vanished) and gives this error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare file_get_html() (previously declared in /home/content/92/7895992/html/echoesanddust/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/simplehtmldom/simplehtmldom/simple_html_dom.php:71) in /home/content/92/7895992/html/echoesanddust/wp-content/plugins/external-links-to-new-window/lib/simple_html_dom.php on line 41

From that it looks like it’s an issue with the External Links In New Window plugin. If I deactivate that our content all comes back except the featured article sliders we have at the top of most of our pages.

    (@photocrati)

@ermiz – We’re doing our best to be as compatible as possible with all major & popular plugins. We should have several fixes included in our next update.

@cogdiss – We are working on a solution for Elegant Themes, to be included in our next update. For External Links in New Window plugin, would you mind submitting a bug report to our developers here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug , including login credentials to your site? If you feel uncomfortable providing login details, understood. It would however, really help our developers work towards a solution for that plugin. Please include as much detail as you can in the bug report (WP version, NextGEN Version, error message, plugins active, theme active, etc).

    Thanks!

One thing that was discussed a lot over the years was simple navigation among different galleries within a given album. Placing “2013 Activities” on a page, and adding things throughout the year to it, so that all one has to do is look for the main entry point. Drill down into an activity, and then back up again to 2013 and pick something else.

If you have a album for a specific topic, and you want to add more galleries to it as time goes on, you’ve got to make a new page, post, alias.. and it’s about 10 steps to do something that your “competition” has -always- done from the beginning, with simply adding the photos.

Take a look at Gallery 2. It’s a sloth demon, but it’s got functionality that NGG still has not got.

The 2.0 plugin has broken my Client Photography portal for serving up images to clients to purchase/ download.

The name of the plugin that I use for this is “WordPress image Store”. The developer is XPARK Media. The support form for this plugin is also here https://xparkmedia.com/support/plugin/image-store/

I know quite a few photographers utilize this plugin for client proofing/ purchase and also NextGen for their website galleries.

This update removed the Thumbnails from my client galleries and broke functionality like selecting to add to cart, open to view in a lightbox etc. When I deactivated the NextGen Plugin it did restore the thumbnails but largely the application is still not functioning. I have also reached out to the developer of that plugin to see what he can do from his side however you may want to contact him to work out what the conflict may be.

If you would like a account to my test site where the conflict is occurring I can provide you a account.

I’m so sorry to hear about this. Yes, we’d love to check this out. If you wouldn’t mind sending in your login credentials and as much information as you can about how to replicate this issue, and the steps you’ve already taken to troubleshoot, in a bug report to us here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug , we’ll do what we can from our end to help things be compatible.

Being that this sounds like a live production site, you might consider rolling back to v1.9.13 until we release our next update, see: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/ . We hope to have the next update available by the end of this week. When you send us login credentials, if you’re willing it would be best and ideal to login to a test site if you have one available with the same setup where the issue is present.

    Thanks!

    Hi all,
I updated my site with Nextgen 2.0 today after having updated WP to 3.6. After the update about 95% of my photos in albums and galleries stopped working. They were there as thumbnails but when clicked not being displayed (as if the lightbox wasn’t there anymore). The few that actually worked were displayed as 320×240 pictures. Also, I had used the shortcode to display albums on a page and it was ignored by Nextgen.
Tried to work out how to fix it using the new 2.0 version but I just gave up after two hours headache. Nothing I tried worked or even came close to fixing anything.
I followed the how-to-rollback-a-version link, did the steps and installed 1.9.13 which works smoothly now. Sure, it doesn’t have all the fancy stuff 2.0 has but it works. Atleast until I figure out if I’m going to keep Nextgen.
