@headlessspider – Is it possible there could be a conflict with another active plugin when 2.0.57 (now 2.0.58) is active?

I am not sure but when nextgen is active and i click on a post title it gives me that redirect loop message. when i deactivate it clicking on a post title takes me to that post as it would normally happen. I should note that it is the only plugin that i installed at the time and the site was working normally before i activated it.

to test a theory, i deactivated nextgen, installed nextcellent, activated it and there was no redirection loop. I then deactivated nextcellent, activated nextgen and the redirect loop went back. and all through this time i have not created any galleries yet.

@headlessspider – Thanks for that extra information but using the other plugin as a benchmark serves no purpose as it is a different code base altogether.

Does the issue continue if you temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme?

    – Cais.

I see the same problem. I just updated to the new .58 release. Now any page with a picture from a gallery will not load…it goes into a re-direct loop. When I deactivate nextgen, I can load the pages, albeit without the pictures.

    The problem is not browser-specific.

Cais, apologies for the benchmark as i don’t have anything to compare it to. my bad.

i am currently using a very slightly modified twenty-twelve theme — i used a child theme with my mods and changed content.php, functions.php and style.css mostly for changing the display of the post title. i can send you the files if it would help.

I’m a bit nervous about changing themes because I’ve spent time customizing my current theme (through the provided options, not code changes).

However, if I preview my site using the twenty-fourteen theme with the plugin activated, I do _not_ see the problem.

In the spirit of https://xkcd.com/979/, here’s how I addressed the issue on my site…

I have Yahoo hosting, so I don’t have access to a .htaccess file to play around with.

After experimenting unsuccessfully with lots of options I saw a posting on www.ads-software.com talking about redirect loops in relation to permalinks. I disabled permalinks and the site now works with both Weaver II and nextgen galleries. The URLs are ugly, but that isn’t really a big concern for this site.

@carriage stone – Very funny, thanks for the laugh! I’m happy you have it sorted out and seeing it as a Permalink issue is rather rare and may not be at the root of the issue but still if its working I would tend to just leave it alone for now.

@headlessspider – Changing the post title should not be an issue, or at least I would not expect code written to do that would be an issue, but unfortunately we have another report of someone that has used the other gallery plugin and now are unable to do anything with NextGEN Gallery. We have not confirmed that is the issue but it still worries me. Would you be able to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a closer look at what might be going on with your site.

We will need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with the Bug Report.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
