NextGen Basic Gallery Slideshow Hangs on Loading Circle

After updating NextGen Gallery, no slideshow works anymore. The slideshows hang on a circle. I tried using the old shortcode, I tried using the *new* shortcode demonstrated on the nextgen site, and I tried using the insert slideshow button on the page editor. None of them allowed it to continue.
When I view the source, all the images are there… I don’t have the brainpower this late at night to debug it to figure out what’s going on. I’m using the ImageBrowser as an alternative right now, but don’t know what’s up with the slideshow.
