NextGEN breaks slider and background images

Which slider are you using? And how are your background images uploaded and added to your site? Assuming that you’re not using NextGEN for your slider or background images, it sounds like it would be a conflict with whatever is powering both of those.

I’d like to +1 on this issue. After updating to 2.0.57 images stopped loading in a bunch of places inside the site.

Featured images in posts no longer load.
Portfolio items no longer work.

I’ve had to disable the NextGEN Gallery in order to get all the other stuff on the site to work again so giving the address of the site would be pointless.

I don’t want to restore the DB as one of our guys spent a couple of hours uploading new content after the update.

@chrisnasulea: Can you tell us which theme your using? I assume both featured images and “portfolio items” are being powered by your theme. So I’m wondering if there’s a conflict there with the theme. Thanks.

Updated to 2.0.57 and slider stopped working (nivo slider which came with my theme)

I disabled the gallery to get the slider on frontpage working again but now of course the Galleries linked to the top menu won t be visible.Any Ideas how to fix this ?

Given three reports, it seems likely we’ve introduced something that conflict with some other element on your sites. But to solve it, we just need to understand what the conflict is with specifically.

Sounds like manfredk was using the Nivo slider. Thanks for the details on that manfredk. Can you clarify is the nivo slider is on your site as a separate plugin?

@ssent1 and @chrisnasulea, please let us know if you are also using Nivo, and if not, what you are using.

If we can diagnose, I suspect we can resolve it and hopefully provide a patch for those of you affected.

My background image no longer appears also. I had to roll back to the release prior to 2.0.57 (2.0.40) to keep my background from disappearing. I am using another plugin called background manager to manage backgrounds, but it is obvious it didn’t cause the issue.

The site in question uses Cherry Framework from template monster. As far as we can tell that is what is being broken when the NextGEN plugin is active.

I think the Nivo Slider in My Theme (peekaboo) is build into the theme as I do not see that one in the plugin list

Is there a way of installing the older version of NexGen again or should i rather wait to see if the conflict can be fixed?

I got a similar error too. Just created a ticket at the Pro-Support from NextGEN Gallery. I let you guys know when I get an answer. It looks like it blocks some scripts from other Plugins (SlideDeck 2 and BJ Lazy Load in my case).

Downgrading to an old version is pretty simple, just replace the plugin-folder with an older one. https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

I have the same problem, and looks like its not plugin vs plugin conflit bug just a javascript because after update all javascripts are died.

Same problem, Photoalbums and Galleries are gone.
Perhaps a problem with an older PHP version? (5.2.17)

Downgrade fixed the problem. Let us know if new patch is released.

Can confirm too Downgrading to 2.0.40 fixed the Issue

I’ve just had the same issue & had to roll back to the previous version, which worked perfectly again.
