NEXTGEN Broken image files on upload

I am having an issue with uploading the photos, when I upload them I get a broken image file. I’ve deactivated all the plugins and then reactivated them one by one both times, deactivated NGG plugin and uploaded version 2.0.40 via FTP and still the image files are broken when I upload them to the NEXTGEN gallery.
