We are seeing these error lines towards the top of our website on pages that have the NextGEN Gallery thumbnail images. I worry about deleting the “gallery.php” file from my host FTP because we do have this galley on several of our web pages and the images do seem to be working even with the error lines at the top (although it doesn’t look great with them there).

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$show_piclens in /home/content/70/8008670/html/test/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/gallery.php on line 35

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$galdesc in /home/content/70/8008670/html/test/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/gallery.php on line 46

This is one page that has the error codes, but if you go to the “photos” page, you can see the same errors. Also, in the “events” page, you will see the errors only if you click into an event where you can view the image gallery.

I have seen similar errors in the forums, but nothing exactly like what I am experiencing and my coding knowledge is not advanced enough to start messing around without advice.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

@shopual – You appear to be using the sample “gallery” template rather than the default (read: blank) template for your display. I would suggest changing it to correct this issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cais,

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t create the WP site, so I am not sure how they set-up the gallery. How would I go about changing it from the sample template? It was working fine for us for a while, but these error Notice lines just randomly started one day.

I can try to Google how to change it over, but if there is any more instructions that you can give, I would be extremely appreciative.

    Thank you,
    Cassie

@shopual – It may be best for you to review the articles on our site for help: https://nextgen-gallery.com/help/

As to changing the template, it would depend on how the galleries were inserted on which is the best way to make those changes … the documentation should help with that as well.

Perfect, thanks for the help! I was able to remove most of the Notice issues by changing the “Template” under “Customize the display settings”. It did have some sort of “Test” path in that field, but I changed it to “gallery.php”.

I am still seeing these errors when I am viewing a Gallery within an album (https://shopual.com/events/nggallery/austin-fashion-week/austin-fashion-week-2015):

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$show_piclens in /home/content/70/8008670/html/test/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/gallery.php on line 35

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$galdesc in /home/content/70/8008670/html/test/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/gallery.php on line 46

I can’t seem to find a place to change the “Template” within these galleries like I could with the galleries that are not grouped within an album. It seems like an easy fix, but I just can’t find those settings for these galleries. When I click the thumbnail image while editing the page, I get the “Insert Gallery Window”, but I only have 2 options under “Template”- album-extended and album-compact. When I use album-extended (which is the way we have the album set to display), I get new errors on the top of our “Events” page. When I have the “template” set to nothing/”no template”, the errors disappear from that page (this was the one page that didn’t have the errors from my original post, it is only when you click on a gallery that you see the errors).

I will definitely look around to more of the articles for help. I have been getting the hang of the WordPress site by exploring. My web design knowledge is limited, so I am always worried I will make a mess of something and not be able to reverse it. I am so thankful for these forums!

Also, our website seems to be loading extremely slow now. Do you think any changes that I made with the gallery could be affecting that? This is the slowest I have ever seen it, and it is painful.

    Thanks!

@shopual – Set *all* of the templates for all inserted displays to blank (this is the real default) … I suspect you will continue to clear up more issues after this.

    Thanks!

Thanks, Cais. I did try that and it seems that when I save and exit, it defaults back to that “test” file path (/home/content/70/8008670/html/test/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/…).
Then I make the update and it goes back to the “Undefined Property” error codes at the top of the page. Should I just delete that gallery file from our File Manager? I just don’t want to make a major mistake.

    Thank you!

It does look like we have a duplicate of the files in our File Manager. Perhaps I should just delete the test folder? OR at least the NextGen Gallery folder in the Test folder? Would it then automatically revert back to the NextGen files we have in the main folder (/home/content/70/8008670/html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/…)?

    Thanks for your help!

@shopual – It reads as though you may have a migration/installation issue … have you tried the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options and then clear the image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous?

See if that helps to correct those paths …

    Cais,

Thank you so much for sticking with me on this. That did the trick, no more error notices!
I was able to jump into the settings to get everything looking as we had it before, so all is well. Again, I thank you tremendously for all of your excellent help. I feel like I am really starting to get the hang of this WordPress stuff ??

    Best,
