I can upload a gallery fine, but when I try to insert a gallery to a page, the popup takes a good while to load (though my site’s memory usage is set to 128M which I believe should be adequate for NextGen Gallery); once it does load, the “Display Galleries” tab shows blank options. The sections for the tab are there – “Select a display type”, “What would you like to display”, etc. – but the actual options are coming up blank. I don’t see any options for selecting a gallery, a display type, order of images, etc. Screenshot here: Screenshot

I’ve tried disabling several plugins and seeing one by one which ones are affecting this, with no luck. I switched to a default theme instead of my custom one, still no improvement. I tried downgrading to a previous version of NG, but that didn’t solve the problem either. I made sure the site URL and admin URL were both the same, and I flushed my permalinks cache as well just to make sure there wasn’t a conflict there. The PHP and wp-config settings both have the max memory for the site at 128M, and it has proven more than adequate in the past for displaying my site and managing my plugins’ functionality. Safety Mode is set to Off in PHP settings.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t have access to the cPanel or other administrative dashboards for this particular site because it was set up on a local hosting service. However, their support just got back to me saying they will be migrating the site to a new server anyway, and in the process will be providing an updated PHP build. I can report back here in a day or two after the migration has completed and I can test NG on the new server settings, I should also have access to the new admin panel by then as well.

@coolhatwebdesign – Please do … also keep in mind, it is good practice to use the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options after a migration. It may not be necessary but if you run into any “new” issues please consider starting there.

I’m not seeing any issues with NG any more. I believe after my host migrated the site to a new server and updated the PHP build while they were at it, that resolved the issue I saw with NG (I was also seeing issues with WordPress core where whenever I clicked to update a plugin or WP itself, the indicator would just continue spinning with no indication of progress).

If anyone else sees these issues with NG, I would highly recommend updating to the latest PHP build and seeing if the max memory can be increased for you to at least 128M. Both those changes seemed to have helped me resolve my problem.

@coolhatwebdesign – Thanks for the update and the observations!
