    New here!
    The first gallery I’ve created fails to display properly on a mobile device.
    See: https://savingsouthcliffgardens.com/nextgen/
    I think this problem happened when I changed the settings for Basic Thumbnails.
    Override thumbnail settings > yes
    Thumbnail crop > no
    Alignment is fine on desktop but not an mobile device (e.g. android tablet)

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @gwatuk,

    I would be glad to help but I cannot actually see any issues with the specified gallery on my side. I hope that you wouldn’t mind providing us with more details about the encountered issue on mobiles ( a screen with some marks may help )

    Thanks,
    Mihai

    Thanks for getting back to me ??

    I see what’s happened.
    I had changed override thumbnail settings back to “no”.
    (I hadn’t realised that this was a global setting.)

    Please have another look.

    Also alignment problems with
    https://savingsouthcliffgardens.com/design-proposals/
    https://savingsouthcliffgardens.com/activity-proposals/
    You can see these on a desktop computer.

    I’m just about to change the two pages I mentioned above (design-proposals and activity-proposals) and use another plugin.
    I don’t know how to post images here, so I’ve put screenshots of the problems on another page. See https://savingsouthcliffgardens.com/nextgen-demo/

    But this page still shows the problem: https://savingsouthcliffgardens.com/nextgen/

    I’ve just realised that you can see the alignment issue on a desktop computer. If you reduce the width of the window you’re viewing it with, the grid will reduce to four columns.
    The first two rows are OK.
    The third row has a single thumbnail aligned to the right.
    And the fourth and fifth rows are OK.
    This is the the same as what you see on a tablet, and a similar problem is present on a phone.

    Hi @gwatuk,

    Can you please try to add the CSS rule from below to “Gallery -> Other Options -> Styles” to see if that will fix the problem?

    .ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box {
    float: none !important;
    }

    Mihai

    (@gwatuk)

    Sorry, that doesn’t work ??
    Have you been able to reproduce the problem that I’m getting?

    Hi @gwatuk!

    Let’s try again.
    Go to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS
    Copy and paste this code, then click on “Publish” (replace Mihai’s code).

    .ngg-galleryoverview.default-view .ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box{
    float: none !important;
    }

    Please, let us know how it goes.

    Hi Gaby,

    That pretty much works.
    It’s fine on mobile devices, but when I reduce the width of my browser when using a PC it still goes wrong as I described above. (The third row has a single thumbnail aligned to the right.)
    This is with a windows desktop.

    But that’s a pretty weird thing to do!
    But if you’re planning to fix this bug with a future software release you might like to include a fix for that as well.

    If you want to try out another version of the CSS I’d be happy to test it for you.
    In the mean time THANKS VERY MUCH.

    Just one other thing, it would be much better if the “override thumbnail settings” was not global ??

    Best wishes,
    Gareth

    PS your plugin is faster than the Modula Image Gallery ??

    @gwatuk – how did you test to conclude NextGen’s faster than Modula? ??

    Have a look here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/best-wordpress-photo-gallery-plugins/#tablepress-13

    Plus, we’re rolling out an update to Modula to include CDN + Image Optimization (on the fly), unlimited, for all of our paying customers ??

    I’d be really interested in learning more about the testing methodology you used to compare the gallery plugins ??

    Also, are you running Modula 2.0 or the older 1.3.x ?

    P.S: I’m part of the Modula team, obviously ??

    Cristian.

    Hang on a minute Cristian, I’ll get back to you in a short while!
    This for the NextGen people…

    Oh nooooooo!

    It’s not consistent.
    I’ve just used it with a different gallery and it goes wrong on a desktop (with a browser at a normal width).
    (Mobile versions are OK)

    Have a look at https://savingsouthcliffgardens.com/nextgen/ again.
    I’ve added the other gallery.
    There are a different number of images.
    The first is with 17 (in five columns) is OK, but the second has 16 images (in five columns) – this does wrong again.

    (@gwatuk)

    Ok Cristian, I’ve just run a test and the results for you are not good.
    I’m using Version 2.0.3, sadly I’m not a paying customer.
    What’s this information worth?
    A free upgrade so I can have a play with your Lightboxes? ??

    @gwatuk – sure thing, just email [email protected] and I’ll get you sorted out with a paid license ASAP ??

    I’d still love to learn more about your testing methodology. In none of our tests did NextGen perform better than Modula, in terms of speed ??

    /Cristian.

    Hello Mihai and Gaby,
    This morning the galleries on my test page are working OK.
    Perhaps there was something strange happening with CSS caching?
    I’ll do some more checks tomorrow and see how things go.

    Hi @gwatuk

    Thank you for letting us know.
    Please, keep us posted.
    Feel free to write us back.
