NextGen Gallery Crashing my site! HELP!!!

  • I am trying to load plug in NextGen Gallery to utilize with wp-eStore…I am very excited to utilize these together! Totally had a plan together, and CRASH!!! Every time I activate the NextGen Gallery Plug-in it crashes my wordpress site! Please help me I really really want to use this plug-in! Also it was working fantastic a month ago and now since the upgrade it has been crashing my site, and I have to go through my FTP files to delete the entire plugin just so I don’t loose my site. Has anyone else had this issue??

    @thompsonswebservice – This is most likely a conflict with another active plugin on your site or possibly the current theme.

    You can rename the NextGEN Gallery folder via FTP and you should regain access to your site. Then you can check if it is an issue with another plugin or your theme by temporarily switching to a default WordPress Twenty series theme and deactivating all plugins before activating NextGEN Gallery.

    I am almost 99% positive it is conflicting with plug-in called galleria and fotomoto, but when I deactivated them it still did the same thing. I have never changed a theme while website is up and going, will I lose everything?

    @thompsonswebservice You don’t lose anything activating the default theme, at most when you’ll return to the current theme you will have to settle again widgets

    It was crashing my website. To fix it I removed NextGen. Set theme to default wordpress theme. Installed NextGen, then activated my other theme. <crash>negative</crash>
    Good to go.

    @avoytas – Thanks for sharing your work-around.

    @thompsonswebservice – As @tizz noted (thanks!) the worst case is you may need to re-set your widgets but that is not very common in recent WordPress installations and current themes following WordPress Best Practices.
