• Hello all. I make a gallery with the plug NextGallery. The end result on the website when I open the tab “View”, there are galleries, then writes a 404, and if you click on [Show picture list] on the gallery, then open photos stored in this gallery. And to solve this problem, I want to push on to the gallery opens a page with photos stored there.
I know galleries works when push the Show picture list. But I want, that gallery work without the link “Show picture list”
How to solve this error?

@perov: can you update to 2.0.7 and confirm if you are still having this issue?

I am having a similar issue, even after I upgraded to Nextgen 2.0.7

I setup a page just for nextgen test and it shows the issue.
here is the page

What happens is that I cannot go to the next page of a multipage image list. When attempted there’s a 404 Error.

WP 3.6, Nextgen 2.0.7
Please help

@yakos – I’ve confirmed I’m seeing the issue on your site. When you click to the next page, for some reason it’s stripping the /mnimes/ out of your URL. No idea off hand why that’s happening. Would you be willing to submit a bug report with WP and FTP login credentials so we can troubleshoot?

If not, my first question would be to check if you have any plugins like Custom Permalinks active and try deactivating those.

Hi @photocrati

Thanks for your help.
I do have a permalinks plugin, and deactivated it, but there was no difference. Moving to a different page of images just fails with a 404 error.
Also checked that the /mnimes/ and I can’t see it being stripped with or without the Permalinks plugin.

I will submit a bug to WP but why, it seems to me that its only Nextgen that has the issue. And if I submit a ticket to WP what do I tell them?
I don’t know about the FTP login, however.

Same problem here.
It seems that the problem occurs when WP core files are stored in a sub folder.

It was fine with 2.02 (and 2.0).

Maybe a problem with this change:
Fixed: Always use domain as specified by WordPress Site URL

When I try to insert a new gallery the URL is:
https://domain.tld/wordpress/nextgen-attach_to_post?ver=358-24485
and get a 404 error, when I change the URL to
https://domain.tld/nextgen-attach_to_post?ver=358-24485
I see the NextGen form.

I have not solved this problem. I’m using the console. Linux operating system. How to update the firmware of the program NextGen Gallery in my case? I do not have a panel FTP.

I appreciate the efforts of getting nextgen stable again and also would like to convey my thanks to the team, however if the case is what @slabbi reporting, then there should be a workaround with Nextgen.

I eventually found a work-around for this URL stripping.

If you’ve placed a Nextgen gallery on a page by using the code:
[nggallery id=X] where X is the gallery ID, then delete this and replace it with the same gallery but use the Nextgen tool in the post toolbar.

This will enable you to alter the settings to the number of images displayed from the default 20 to as many as you need to have ALL your gallery on one page. No need for further pages so the problem goes away.

Not a fix but it works.

Thanks @rojobe
I have tried what you suggested, but got the same issue. No solution …

Shows the first page of images and when it tries to do the next just gets a 404 error.

This is what the toolbar nextgen button created –
<img class=”ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem” alt=”” src=”https://diasporic.org/mnimes/nextgen-attach_to_post/preview/id–11889″ />

I must say the new nextgen gallery setup window looks impressive (but it needs to work)

Not sure what you’re try to do. I looked through your site but didn’t see a picture ‘gallery’ – not even the standard WP one.

The gallery I found the workaround is here:

https://www.bendingtherules.co.uk/lejog/photos

The default number of thumbnails is 20, so Nextgen splits the total number into packets of 20 (unless you change that) and creates the footbar with links to page <, 2, 3, etc. >

It was these links it was clipping the URL to, so bringing up the Nextgen setup window and changing the number of thumbnails on a page to 100 (more than the number of photos I have in the gallery) puts all the thumbs on one page – no footbar needed.

I’m not a ‘coder’ at all so anything I solve or find a workaround for will probably be clumsy by comparison.

@rojobe – Settings the “images per page” to 0 (zero) will also display all images in the gallery on the same page (no need to worry about how many you have in the gallery this way).

– Cais.

I know @photocrati, I have already done this to get around the problem. However when you have many images in a gallery it just is not efficient.

But today when I tried it, the problem has gone away. It must have been cache that caused me to think its not working.

As far as I am concerned I can put this to bed. Seems to be working fine now…

I have the same problem: 404 Page when using permalinks and it works with standard links.

This is aswell on the wp-admin page edit site. If you click on “attach to post” you will get a 404. I figured out, that a index.php is missing:

Standard links: domain.com/nextgen-attach_to_post?ver=359-20131026
Permalinks: domain.com/index.php/nextgen-attach_to_post?ver=359-20131026

With this problem, ngg is useless for me.

Anyone can help me out?

Despite what I said above, I am also still having the issue. I have hundreds of galleries that do not work (see above problems).
At this stage I have given up on nextgen. Transferring everything to another gallery management plugin.
A long and laborious task.
