    I have WordPress 4.8 and NextGEN Gallery 2.2.10. When activated, WP prevents me from editing any pages and I can’t add pages either. It brings me to a page that says, “This page isn’t working” with Error 500. When deactivated, I can edit and add pages, however when editing, the text and any media is missing, but still shows up on the site in public view. I would like to be able to keep NextGEN activated.

    What could be the problem?

    @kwinseeeee – NextGEN Gallery itself should not be causing these errors (it doesn’t in our testing), it might be a conflict with another active plugin or possibly your current theme.

    Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin?

    If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.

    Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well.

    If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.

    Thanks!

    @imagely Thanks for the response!

    Here’s what I found when I deactivated all plugins, cleared cache, and reactivated NextGen. The following plugins caused the pages not to work as specified previously:

    – Advanced Custom Field v4.4.11
    – Fast Secure Contact Form v4.0.52
    – Tubepress v3.1.8 (it doesn’t look like it’s compatible with 4.8, so I’m going to find something to replace it)
    – WP RSS Aggregator v4.11.1 (also doesn’t appear to be compatible with 4.8)

    With these four deactivated, I’m now able to edit certain aspects of the site correctly. Any suggestions?

    @kwinseeeee – Have you contacted those plugin authors to see if they have any insights into the issues they appear to be creating for NextGEN Gallery? We’re not aware of anything in particular for them although we are not familiar enough with those plugins to make any recommendations on what to look for in their settings/options.

    Thanks!

    @imagely – The weirdest thing happened: I went in, just to double check, and reactivated each plugin one by one and tested. All 4 are now working. So odd! I didn’t do anything from yesterday. Thanks for all of your help!
