    Hi @btssn

It seems that you are currently using our Compact Album display and our default “Basic thumbnails”.

    Thumbnails
Please, Go to Gallery Settings > Basic Thumbnails > Select View.
Use “Legacy”. Then on the option “Legacy (Old) Templates” choose “NextGEN Legacy: gallery-caption.php”
That will show the description in the thumbnails.

    Pictures
Our default Lightbox displays show the “title” of each photo.
You can try changing that lightbox Effect to “Fancybox”
Go to Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects
    Select “Fancybox”
    Do not forget to save.

Please, let us know if that worked for you.

    Hi @btssn,

No worries. You will be able to continue to use the actual gallery an albums with NextGen Pro. NextGen Pro acts just like an addon for NextGen Gallery.

Yes, you will be able to us Lightbox Pro ( that comes with NextGen pro ) in order to click on an gallery preview image and see directly all the gallery’s images without going to the gallery page: https://www.imagely.com/docs/open-galleries-direct-pro-lightbox/

I have this very same problen. I have changed my settings as per the reply by Gaby, but still do not get the descriptions under the thumbnails.

The page in question is https://shop.onsengineering.co.uk/beta-enduro/

    many thanks.

I’m doing some web work for a non-profit. They have a gallery of art available to sponsor. They need the descriptions to show up as “captions”

So I was able to get the captions under the thumbnails, (which looks horrible by the way), but not when viewed in the slide show.

It seems to me that designers who have galleries should have an easy option to display or not display captions if they so choose. Can that functionality be added to a future update? Or, could there be a way to see a caption if you mouse over the picture?

It seems counterintuitive to have to jump thru several hoops just to add captions. And from the posts, I’m not the only one who wants easy access to captions.

Love the product! Keep making it better and better.

If you fix that – There will be a donation forthcoming.

This post is not helpful. At the time of my response, there is no “select view” option within Gallery Settings > Basic Thumbnails. But even if I select ” NextGEN Legacy: gallery-caption.php” under the template option, it changes nothing; I still have no descriptions on any of my gallery pics.
