• Hi everybody,

i just installed NextGen Gallery and the problem i have is that the gallery settings menue does not show text. The Titles of the single tabs are missing and there is nothing in the “Display gallery as” pulldowns.

Here is a screen shot: screenshot

In my installation the lang folder was missing. I dowloaded the language pack from languages, but this didn’t change anything. The menue is not in german (as it should be) but english..

If i add a gallery to a page using the shortcodes it always says Gallery not found. Please check your settings..

    can anybody help me?
    Bye

@jonas.zierer – i18n is not fully implemented in the current version of NextGEN Gallery but it is being worked on … that is why you are not seeing the translations. The language pack you downloaded may not even work in the future as we have not generated any new .pot files, yet.

As to the issue with missing text, I would suggest first checking to see if there is a conflict with another plugin.

    Thanks!

    hi,

    ah ok.

I disabled all other plugins and even reinstalled nextGen, but the text is still missing and galleries can’t be shown. Are there any specific server-/php settings required for nextGen?

    Thanks for your help!

@jonas.zierer – Did you check if the current theme you are using could be at the root of the issue? We suggest any of the default WordPress Twenty series themes to test if that is the case.

As to any specific settings, in most cases if those are not met then you would have much more of an issue than missing text strings.

    Hi
I’ve got the same symptom, but with a warning : Warning: is_readable(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(D:\www\CYBEL/wp-content/plugins/D:\www\CYBEL\wp-content\plugins\nextgen-gallery\lang/nggallery-fr_FR.mo) is not within the allowed path(s): (D:/www/) in D:\www\CYBEL\wp-includes\l10n.php on line 457.
As you can see, my site is currently prepared on localhost under Windows.
Hope this will help debugging !

I had the same issue, I deactivated the Cincopa plugin and it worked for me.

@florianberthelot – Please submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with your site specifics as well as log in and FTP credentials for the WordPress installation so we can get a better look at this and hopefully get it sorted out for you.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

This happens to me too, the same situation and error of florianberthelot.
    Help!!

    Solved!

@terno – Thanks for the update.

    – Cais.

I experienced a similar problem where I suspect that Yakadanda Instagram (v.0.1.1) was interfering with the NextGen Gallery (NGG) plugin.

When both plugins are activated, NGG does not show content in Display Gallery > Select a display type (and further down)

Google Chrome then prompts error message in it’s console: “Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token <” in NGG’s file /wordpress/nextgen-attach_to_post/display_tab_js?ver=3.8.1 on line 1690: </script>
This does not happen when the Yakadanda Instagram plugin is inactive.

I’ve reported the issue reported on Yakadanda Instagram plugin page, just wanted to let you know. Thanks!

@dennis Maasbommel – Thanks for letting us know about this. If it continues and you are not able to get any assistance from the other plugin author please start a new topic to let us know so we can look into this further.

You are also welcome to try our latest beta version as well, although we do not have anything specifically targeted at “Yakadanda Instagram” included in the update there may be a more general correction that could address this issue.

    Thanks!

    @photocrati, @cais:
I’ve installed the latest NGG beta last night, hoping my issue would be fixed with minimum effort, but it didn’t. Then, I started reading the support pages and stumbled on this thread and your advice. That helped, so thanks a lot!

Now I was trying to see if I could find an easy fix myself, but no luck yet. I’m only new here ??

Probably more people had a similar problem with another conflicting plugin. I don’t know how to search the many support pages other than by just reading all the entry titles. Isn’t there an easy search function somewhere? ??

@dennis Maasbommel – I’m glad we were able to provide some help.

Unfortunately the WordPress forums really do not offer a very good search mechanism but that is a topic for a different place. All I can suggest this time would to be use your favorite search engine and its version of a “site:” delimiter … no guarantees but it may help narrow down the search better than the built in one.

… or as you have discovered, you can read through all the potentially relevant topics based on title.
