Just updated to NextGen Gallery 2.0.66.27. Found Gallery Settings for NextGEN Basic Thumbnails and NextGEN Basic Slideshow and checked NO on Show Slideshow Link. This eliminated the link that suddenly appeared next to my slideshows after the update. But now all of my slideshows are centered even though I’ve tried to align left. Prior to the update all of my slideshows were aligned left.

Shouldn’t I be able to align any slideshow to any position? Right, left, center? Or will all NextGEN Gallery slideshows be centered from now on?

    Ideas anyone? Thanks.

@barbaraas – Slideshows, by default, are centered … what version did you update from that your alignment changed for existing inserted slideshows? Also, what did you use to insert the slideshow, was it a shortcode or the ATP/IGW?

You could try the following custom CSS to align the slideshows to the left as well:
    .ngg-slideshow { margin: 0; }

    Thanks!

Hi! I updated from NextGEN version 1.9.12.

It’s been quite a while since I last created the slideshows that are on my website. Forgive me but I just tried to recreate a slideshow and for the life of me I cannot figure out where the slideshow ID number is! At this point I’m not sure if my original slideshows were created with the NextGEN or with the WordPress “Insert Media”. Nothing seems to match up. I thought I may have created a slideshow through the WordPress “Insert Media” but it only has a Gallery and not a Slideshow. And if I try to create a NextGEN slideshow I can’t find a shortcode for it. My old slideshows actually have a shortcode like [slideshow id=17]. Is that a NextGEN code?

I feel like something is missing but I can’t determine which updates may have changed things (or have I lost my mind?). Any direction would be much appreciated!

    Thanks.

p.s. where in the CSS would the .ngg-slideshow { margin: 0; ] go?

Also, if I select the “Add NextGEN Gallery” button from my WP Edit plugin toolbar, I get a NextGEN screen where I can add a Gallery Album or Picture. When I select Gallery, choose the Gallery I want, then select Slideshow and then hit Insert, I get a screen that has NextGEN Gallery at the top and a 0 in the content area. Nothing else happens. If I close the box, the slideshow is not inserted into my page.

p.s. I also had to delete my Ultimate Tiny MCE plugin because the developer isn’t updating. So I downloaded his new plugin, WP Edit. Many of the buttons on the Tiny MCE are not on the WP Edit. I may have lost image/slideshow options there also.

So many variables when installing plugin updates. How does one test every single item for incompatibility after updating?

If you’re very familiar with NextGEN you may at least be able to tell me if my problem is definitely with the plugin or if I need to dig further into my other plugins.

    Thanks.

@barbaraas – The [slideshow] shortcode was used in NextGEN Legacy, it will be honored in NextGEN Gallery but has often been a point of conflict if you are using other “slideshow” plugins.

We would recommend using new shortcode structures if you choose to continue with them … see this article: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-shortcodes/

To find a Gallery ID, look under Gallery > Manage Galleries … the ID number is in the far left column beside each gallery.

I would recommend using the IGW (“green button”) going forward as it should allow for easier insertion of displays but there could be conflicts with other plugins that modify the TinyMCE interface and/or other Dashboard interface items.

As to the custom CSS … you can add it under Gallery > Other Options > Style.

It does read like you may be having an issue with the WP Edit plugin but I am not familiar with it to know how it works or under what conditions, if any, it may create a conflict with NextGEN Gallery; and, as much as I am familiar with NextGEN Gallery I am not familiar with your site or the plugins you are using at this time and you may very well need to check each one especially if you have not updated those plugins for as long as you had not updated NextGEN Gallery.

    Thanks!

Awesome reply!! You not only confirmed what I was thinking may be the issue but you also gave me direction. Thank you for the CSS and where to find the Gallery ID#.

One suggestion: NextGEN should have the option to align the slideshow.

    Thank you!

@barbaraas – Thank you! I am glad I was able to help you get this sorted out.

As to aligning the slideshow, we have discussed it a few times internally but if you would like to add your thoughts and ideas on it, please feel free to do that here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

    Thanks, again!
