@lovelyloot – Yes, we just published our [work in progress] documentation for v2.0Beta, see here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/help/

    Hope that helps!

Since eventually 2.x will be a pay version, will you stop developing the free version ?

I sent a couple bug reports in already. I’ll post them here for the heck of it.

On the upload images/add gallery page an author can currently see EVERYONES galleries instead of just their own. THey can add pictures to whomever’s galleries they want. On the Manage Galleries page it is fine and they can only see and edit their own galleries.

    Also:
I don’t think editors should have permission to browse the “Import Folder” directory, that seems like a security issue giving people that much access to my site. I think that should be administrators only.

@doublesixx – We are currently building a pro version (separate from v2.0), and we plan on always supporting the free version. NextGEN Pro will actually work as an extension to v2.0. ??

@t Klein – Thank you! We definitely want to encourage beta testers to send in their reports through our bug report form on our site. These submissions go directly to our developers to investigate and work immediately on correcting any legitimate bugs. BTW – we have seen your reports come in, thank you!

We always appreciate the feedback! ??

    Thanks!

    Hi all – Erick here.

@doublesixx – I just want to emphasize that NextGEN Gallery, all versions, will always be free, GPL, and available for download via the WordPress plugin repository just as it is now. As Becky said, NextGEN Pro will be a separate plugin that extends NextGEN Gallery with new display types, lightboxes, ecommerce, and other features.

@t Klein – thanks for the feedback and thanks for submitting as bug reports as well. Sounds like are some role/authority management issues we need to look at.

    Thank!
    Erick

After installing NXTGEN 2.0 beta on my mac running Mamp (i.e. my non-production testing environment) I cannot edit any pages on my web site. The browser hangs when trying to open the edit screen. If I deactivate NXTGEN beta, everything is back to normal. I deactivated all plug-ins, thinking there might be some interaction, but that did not solve the problem. I have the latest version of Worpress and am using theme Twenty-Eleven.

    Help

    Becky and Erick thanx.

Glad to be of service. The new photo uploader works much better, much more reliable so far, and easier for my users to understand.

I’d like to note on my bug reprot that I forgot I was using a plugin, so the error actually isn’t with NextGen Gallery, its with the plugin. I am using:

    https://agapetry.net/news/role-scoping-for-nextgengallery-090/

which gives me a bit more control over who sees what. Seems to be a bug with the new version of nexgen and the plugin.

@lottrr – Would you mind submitting your error as a bug report to our developers here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug

    Thanks!

@t Klein – Thank you very much, it’s very helpful when users can do some troubleshooting by deactivating plugins. We deeply appreciate your update! ??

    @doublesixx – No problem!

Thanks again everybody for the feedback!

    –Becky

First, let me say that I like the new interface and flexibility of gallery settings. I had to install in a production environment in order to do any testing, but I have not been disappointed once I gained an understanding of how to set up my galleries. The documentation could have better explained the different types of display types and options available. I am posting a couple of bugs.

Thanks @lottrr! We really appreciate your feedback. Yep, the documentation is a work in progress as stated, are there any other topics you’d like to see included in the documentation?

Are there any plans to address the lack of being able to setup a browsable album set where newer added galleries do not need to have pages created for them?

Browsing album contents with typical breadcrumb trail like navigation, that most every other photo gallery solution provides, in NGG is very time consuming and involves theme modifications and other plugin use.

For example, my photo section consists of an album for each year, and a gallery for each activity.

If the user wants to browse 2010, they can pick from the list of albums, but to get back to the list, one has to choose the photo gallery page from the sidebar again, and then the year, and another gallery. There’s no mechanism to just go back a level.

This all works only if you have child pages created for each gallery, who’s parent pages are the album they are in, and those album pages are child pages of the photo gallery page itself.

Which means your “Pages” menu in WordPress is quite populated.

When in post I click icon and want to choose display type, system logged out
