  • spinning loading icon only. Couldn’t get slideshow to load before upgrading actually, nor since – image rotator path is good, thickbox/shutter make no difference. Have tried a bunch of other slide show plugins, (though none seem to size images proportionally…. aaargh!) Working on this site.

noted that with the Flashviewer settings – the pcviewer (simpleviewer) shows the slideshow block with “gallery xml not found”, yet autoviewer does show the slideshow (but doesn’t open image on click)(here).

Also tried varying the tags [gallery=1] and [nggallery id=1] – both do show thumbnails but no slideshow. (nor using [slideshow=1 or variations]

nextgen smooth gallery does works really quite nicely(here)but doesn’t resize images to fit.

also tried placing imagerotator.swf in plugins folder and in uploads folder and resetting path, but that didn’t help either – what else to try!??

bingo baby – uploaded another copy of imagerotator.swf to /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/imagerotator.swf , instead of the uploads folder, then reset the path again in control panel – and now suddenly it’s working! (using tag [gallery=2] in post)
    phew

Eureka for me… It’s been like 5 hours since I’ve been trying to find a solution for this problème… I too was having the loading icon, with no images…

    – Tried putting imagerotator.swf everywhere
    – Tried CHMOD imagerotator.php
    – Tried mangling with PHP code
    – Tried finding answers on forums and FAQ and all…

I did notice that the XML wasn’t created with the images inside it… what to do with that, I don’t have a f’n clue.

So finally, out of desperation, I’ve decided to use the reset thingy.
Searched for the swf again, and now for unknown reasons, it now works!!

I really really was having a hard time, and I really don’t understand AT ALL what was going on… It might work, but I would like to have an explanation of what was wrong.

I’m having the same problem …. the reset things does not work either

I was having most of the same problems everyone above was talking about, but i eventually got it working. here are a couple of things i did.

    1. I downloaded the older version of the imagerotator.swf that doe not contain the JW logo (not sure if this has anything to do with it) at https://www.travelsheep.com/jw-image-rotator-without-watermark-branding/
    2. Then i copied it to both the main nextGen plugin folder, and the uploads folde per discussion from https://www.kimwoodbridge.com/using-wordpress-custom-fields-to-display-nextgen-gallery-slideshows-conditionally/
    3. then on the dashboard under NextGen Gallery/options/slideshow, I used the search now button which previously was not working (had to put the address in my self before)
    4. Then i used this short code [slideshow id=x w=x h=x]

Once i did all of these things it magically started working again

    Hope this helps

OK, just got the bugger working again. All the settings in the NextGen options panel had been lost as I moved my site from a testing server to a live server.

I just filled in all the blanks on every tab in the options panel, and she came good.

    Good luck!

I had the same problem in one of my wordpress sites, the slideshow not working due to the “path to the Imagerotator (URL):” window didnt accepted the location I enter. My particular problem was every time I tried to use the search now buton or type it manually the system kept telling me there was no imagerotator.swf file in the directory.

Here are the steps I followed to fix the problem:

The first thing I did was to make 2 new fresh installations (very easy via simplescripts in the cpanel) to check if they worked. They worked fine. Of course I used the same wp verion as in my current website (3.0)

Since it worked I figured out it was a conflict with some plugin or with the theme (by the way my current site runs atahualpa 3.5.1 theme but the fresh instalation tests were with the default theme which is Twenty Ten 1.0)

Then I deactivated all plugins and activated the dafult wp theme.

Next I deleted nextgen plugin installation (I deactivated and then I deleted from the wp plugins manager)

I installed again the nextgen gallery and placed the imagerotatator.swf file into the wp-content/uploads directory

I went to nextgen–>options–>slideswow and the first thin I did was to press the “search now” button for the “path to the image rotator” window and it worked fine, the system recognized the imagerotator.swf file. Problem solved.

Then I re-activated the theme and the plugins. One by one and testing (refreshing) the site every time. everithing was ok.

    Done.

I really dont know were was the problem, I suppose one of the installed plugins or theme kept the nextgen slideshow serach now button from finding the file. The important thing is now it is working fine.

I hope this could help someone to solve their problem. I want to apoligize I my gramar is not good, I dont speak english well so I hope the instructions are clear.

    Best regards,
    Luciano.

I had this problem. It was solved by upgrading my WordPress version to 3.0.1.

It sounds like the rotator is displaying fine, so check the path information to the images.

I would re-upload WordPress files AND Nextgen plugin and start over. Could be the simplest fix.

i have a similar problem but i dont want to use the imagerotator im using the standard java transision it works fine in firefox, but in ie it works until you go to another page on the site then the loading image just shows
    see here https://www.adammabeelandscaping.co.uk
anyone know why this is happening?

Java slideshow not working. Everything else does (jw-image and gallery). But jw-image doesn’t keep pictures in their proper ratios.

    WordPress 3.0.3
    with
    NextGen 1.7.2

Edit: Nevermind, got the ratio thing solved in settings. But would love to get the Java slideshow working.
