• I really, really need to be able to create a role for my users, that allows the contributors to upload images, without having to give them full admin access over all image folders.
Is this at all possible in WordPress and any of its plugins?

I have tried Role manager and NextGen gallery without any success, and found posts in this forum indicating that it would be impossible, but I really find it unlikely, that such a basic feature wouldn’t at all be possible with the market leading blog CMS.

Preferably the solution would still allow the users to manage their own images with text desciptions and so forth, but without access to other users images.

But the most crucial feature would be to disallow users to delete images and folders at all. Especially since I can’t see who has deleted any missing image and folder.

    Please help!

    Still no idea?

I’m getting pretty desperate over here!

I also noticed that NextGEN and rolemanager don’t work together. Although Rolemanager does have an optione for NextGEN.

I sure hope Role manager team is aware of it then.
Is there any other plugin that enables upload without giving admin access?

You can manage NextGEN user roles with NextGEN:
Just click on the roles menu option under the gallery.

I agree…. I have spent ages trying to find a simple solution that will allow contributors to post and upload a simple image or two to be included in their post. All options I have found give this user access to ALL image libraries etc which include all other admin images.

Even if there was a way of limiting access to a specific library that was created just for users, this would be OK.

I have tried all sorts of plugins. The only one that comes close is Article Photo which refuses to work because of an Imagick error.

I am using NextGEN but for a visitor to my blog who is unfamiliar with all the tiny icons it is not very user/visitor friendly.

Surely there must be a very simple solution to the very basic posting feature thay gives users an “image to upload” option.

I sure hope someone can shed some light.

Try Photosmash. I have it working where Contributors can upload. You can even place the images in a moderation state until you approve them. Its fairly new so community support is doesn’t exist. But the author of the plugin is responsive.
