• Hi –
Just upgraded to WP 3.2.1. Immediately after that, I noticed that all of my NGG Galleries no longer work as a lightbox. I click the thumbnails and it goes to a new HTML page with just the image and I have to click the BACK button to go back to the WP page.

I posted on the forum for the installed theme (iBlog Pro by pagelines) and the admin is telling me that “There aren’t any javascript errors, so the lightbox method isn’t being called on the page. “

Is this something to do with your plugin? Is is WordPress? The image carousel page template in my theme is also not working either. The same thing is happening – no lightbox. How is the lightbox method called on the page – this is complete greek to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi Flo,

I had a similar issue with NGG and the lightboxes after upgrading to WP 3.2.1. The problem I was seeing is that after closing a lightbox overlay, the background remained dimmed and a loading progress indicator was still visible.
Solution for me was in the Dashboard, go to Gallery, select the Effects section and change the effect from ‘thickbox’ to ‘lightbox’ then save. Go to your page with the gallery thumbs, maybe refresh your browser cache, then try clicking on a thumb to start the lightbox effect. I can now successfully close the lightbox overlay without any left-over dimmed background or progress indicator.
Hope that may be of some assistance for your scenario.

Thanks for tip. It still does not work at all with the EFFECTS set to anything other than SHUTTER. It is not the effect I want, but at least it’s an overlay. The images in my post still dont open in the overlay…this is terrible. I wish it was easier to retreat back to the previous version.

Any other suggestions woulf be really appreciated.

    Hi again Flo,

While our issues with NGG are not identical, I was able to get NGG working with the ‘thickbox’ effect after I disabled all my active plugins (except for NGG). So at least on the surface, there is an issue with one or more of 29 disabled plugins and the NGG plugin. The challenge is finding which one is in conflict within the context of WP 3.2.1.

Luckily, I have all this running in a virtualized server environment so I can swop out different versions of my ‘htdocs’ directory that WP is installed in.

Hope that helps some. I’ll update this thread if/when I discover the offending plugin.

Think I found the source of my particular issue – the plugin ‘Shadowbox-JS’ (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/shadowbox-js/) was the source of the conflict. Disabling that plugin allowed NGG to work properly for me.

    Good luck Flo!
