    Hi,

so far my blog was running nicely with NGG (apart from an old issue with the upload feature due to some Picture Optimizing Plugin which is deactivated. I bypass this by uploading galleries manually via FTP, which works okay).

Since the recent (manual) update to WP 4.6 my NGG has “vanished”, e.g. it is not listed in the Plugin Section of WP anymore, there was an error message during the update process referring to NGG, but I failed to write it down. In the pages texts there is the usual remark “[nggallery id=32]” etc.

Since NGG is not listed I can not try the standard procedure of deactivating all other plugins first and then step by step activate them again. Switching to another standard theme did not help either.

Also, I tried to simply “reinstall” NGG “over” the existing version, but no avail, WP responds that NGG is already existing. And via ftp I do in fact see the NGG folder under /plugins.

Do you have any idea how to fix this issue.
my website is located under: https://www.aconcagua.de/

    Kind regards
    Christian

@wishbonex – Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does.

If this does not help, you can manually delete the /nextgen-gallery/ folder from under /wp-content/plugins/ then you should be able to re-install and re-activate the plugin via Plugins > Add New … Search for “NextGEN Gallery”

    Thanks!

    Dear Cais,

thank you for your quick help!!! The reset plugin did not do the job, NGG remained unvisible/unlisted in the plugin section.

But your second advice worked perfectly, after deleting and reinstalling NGG it′s working again, all my existing galleries are on display again. Great! Thx a lot!

(my hope that with the reinstall I could fix my upload-problem, too, was not fulfilled (the NGG upload function still producing errors), so I have to stick to my tiring work-around).

    Cheerio

@wishbonex – Thanks for the update. Sorry your current upload issues remain but given this additional problem with the latest update I still suspect something on your site is creating this conflict that is not allowing the NextGEN Gallery upload process to work as expected.

    Another update, Cais:

The upload problem (for which I had openend another thread a couple of months ago) has miraculously solved itself!

After the reinstall of NGG uploads still did not work, after I played with the options of my cache program (Comet Cache), enabling gzip-Compression again, the upload function of NGG suddenly worked again! HOOORRRAAAAY!
(I don′t know if this has anything to do with Comet Cache, but maybe this idea helps somebody else).

    Best regards

@wishbonex – Thanks for sharing your findings with Comet Cache.
