The translations are separate from the code, so you must be having a different problem – check out this article: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/my-scheduled-backups-and-pressing-backup-now-does-nothing-however-pressing-debug-backup-does-produce-a-backup/. I’ve installed the plugin on a French-language site and successfully backed up, so it’s not a generic problem.
