I like the lugin very much, it bridges some of the heavier BuddyPress-style plugins, but it’s still not quite up to commercial release…

The display is a bit clunky and old-fashioned, it could do with enhancements that it does not appear to have even in the pro version.

Font: Courier should be considered a “legacy font” by any serious plugin author, unattractive, badly spaced, more like a typewriter than a font

Buttons: they make the interface look like something from the 1980s

What’s more, while deleting messages has the desired effect, deleting Announcements appears to have no effect on them, they just keep coming back, so the User ends up with a long list.

I will keep persevering with it, as I am sure the Author will keep developing and refining this until it does the job it does well and beautifully. At that point I should be delighted to purchase the Pro version.

Thank you for your hard work sir.

    Best regards.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

First talking about a bug you are describing “deleting Announcements appears to have no effect”. Currently you can not delete your own created announcement from front-end. You can delete other users created announcement. So if you create an announcement, you can not delete that, but every other users can delete that announcement for them. So users will NOT end up a long list. If you want to delete your own announcement just add add_filter( 'fep_filter_announcement_include_own', '__return_false' ); in your theme’s (child theme’s if any) functions.php

Font are not declared in this plugin. So font inherit from your theme. So what font your theme is using, same font will be applied for this plugin also.

I confess, i am not good at design. So i have created a simple design and declare classes such a way that anybody with little css knowledge can change design as he like. Also this plugin uses template system. You can change any template as you like. More on this in https://www.shamimsplugins.com/docs/front-end-pm/customization/change-templates-2/

This plugin is actively maintained. github link https://github.com/shamim2883/front-end-pm

Let me know any suggestion, bug report.

    Best Regards
    Shamim

    Greased lightning speed response! ??
that makes it all a lot clearer, thank you so much for taking the time to get back to me. I am reassured that my users won’t get a long list of old announcements, I’ll be sure to include a line about deleting old ones.
I’ll go and take a look at your guide, thanks for that too, as well as for the github (a hubs for Gits? Well, I am a bit of an an old git, so I guess it figures LOL! ?? ) I have never even seen the site, so hopefully fairly easy to navigate.

Well, all this restores my faith in humanity, you sound like a lovely lad ??
    All the very best Shamim!
    Thank you!
