Nice theme – broken update – lucky to have backup

That’s super strange, we haven’t made any significant changes to the CSS during this update. Are you sure is something from the theme end?

Would love to check this out and help you solve this if you have any staging or similar.

Well, I logged onto my wordpress website – updated the theme – only that – no other changes and get the same behavior.
Header colors are a mess – all settings gone – background image blurred and the header customizer now displays some shortcodes to objects rather than an interactive menu.

For example, to change colors in the header text, I end up looking at this:

var(–nv-text-color)

instead of a menu.

I do not know what you have broken – but this is really not acceptable – will go and restore my backup now – as this version looks bad – and could only be fixed if I went and changed CSS manually.

I’m really sorry for this and I would love to help you out. Without a staging version of the site where I could check the issue, my hands are tied as I’m not able to imagine what could have been wrong.

An unfavorable review without any constructive feedback doesn’t help our efforts as we work hard to support users and develop the theme.

I am still running WordPress 5.3.6, you could put that onto your staging server and see whether you get similar issues. Tried an upgrade to wordpress 5.6 – but that seemed to cause other problems, i.e. edit links somehow broken.

Keen to solve the problem – I have some availability in two weeks time – will stick to the old version of Neve, which is very beautifully designed and looking forward to sorting out the issue.
