• Have used a few maintenance plugins over the years and never found one that made me stick with it. I thought this maintenance plugin was going to be it, but without my knowledge (auto-updates) it installed other plugins?

I have no clue why a developer would take such a wonderful plugin and change it to install other plugins without webmasters knowledge?

I would have given this plugin 5+ stars a month ago, now I struggle to give 3 stars. I am thinking maybe even 2 stars for dishonest practices.

Thank you for reaching out. I’d like to clarify a few points. Our templates in LightStart are specifically built with Otter Blocks. To utilize these templates effectively, the Otter plugin is required. However, if you prefer not to use our templates, you have the option to build a page from scratch with any builder you prefer by following this option:?https://vertis.d.pr/i/A3ESrq.

It’s crucial to note that there is no intent to force users into unnecessary installations. We’re committed to providing flexibility in how you use LightStart.

    We appreciate your understanding.

I think you are missing the point: it is NOT your decision to install plugins on another’s site. The site owner is the one who decides which plugins get installed.

When I first installed your plugin, there were no warnings that you would be installing other plugins. You updated this plugin and forced an install of another plugin. This should be forbidden, and I will do everything in my power to encourage WordPress to prevent this in the future.

I completely understand your concerns and want to address them directly.

We take the autonomy and choices of our users seriously. LightStart itself does not automatically install other plugins without user consent. When we mention that our templates are built with Otter Blocks, it is to inform users that to use these specific templates, the Otter plugin would be required. However, it is always the user’s choice to install Otter or not. If you choose not to utilize these templates or the Otter plugin, you can always create your page from scratch or use other alternatives.

We value the trust users put in us and always aim to maintain transparency in our operations. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused, and we genuinely appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
