My server upgraded from PHP 5.5 to 5.6. Since then I cannot access wp-login.php or wp-admin on the sites, e.g. https://www.funnygolfsongs.com although the site looks OK to visitors. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

    – renamed plugins folder to disable all plugins.
    – renamed theme to revert to basic theme (this didn’t help so I’ve changed it back to its usual theme).
    – ‘repair database’ in CPanel.
    – manually upgraded WordPress, ie. overwrote all WordPress files in root (including wp-login.php), deleted and newly uploaded wp-admin and wp-includes, and overwrote duplicates in wp-content, with WordPress 4.2.2 files from download.

    None of these steps helped.

Can anybody help with more ideas? Thanks!

  • What happens when you try to browse to wp-login.php? Are you getting any PHP errors in your error_log?

Thanks for replying. I contacted the hosting company and turns out they have installed security which blocks my IP, without telling me. So that was the problem.
