    Hi David,
I am atta. Your plugin is just awesome. But I could not find any option for “Alphabetical Pagination”.

I have Page ‘Library’ and many PDF and MS Docs file. I have displayed all of them on a page successfully but now I want alphabetical pagination so that user can navigate the documents easily.

    See my website page Library

This plugin have a very long documentation :), I have scrolled it all but could not find that option. Can you please tell me that if I can do that.

    Thanks

Thank you for your good words and for the question. I hope I understand what you need completely. I believe you are using the [mla_gallery] shortcode and you want to sort the gallery display alphabetically by title; is that right?

You can use the orderby=title shortcode parameter to sort the results by the item title. More information is in the “order, orderby” section of the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab. The Documentation lists all the fields you can sort your results by.

You wrote “I want alphabetical pagination …” I understand that to mean you want to divide the gallery display into pages; is that right?

You can add the orderby=title parameter to any of the pagination examples in the Documentation. Try the “A Paginated Gallery” example shortcodes in the “MLA Gallery Examples” section of the Documentation. You can find more information in the “Support for Alternative Gallery Output, e.g., Pagination” section of the Documentation.

If you want a more advanced pagination system you can use the example plugin created for this earlier topic:

    Alphabetical pagination

I hope that gets you started on a solution for your application. I am traveling until 2/17, but if you have any problems or further questions regarding the above suggestions I can address then when I return home. Thanks for your understanding, your patience and your interest in the plugin.

    Hi David,

    Thanks for this quick reply.

I am sorry because I did ask my question in right way. The post that you linked Alphabetical pagination is just exactly what I wanted to do.

I have made may Page completely.

    Here is my work.

    The Shorcode

    [mla_tag_cloud mla_output=list taxonomy=attachment_category number=0 mla_link_href="{+page_url+}?term_slug={+slug+}"]

    [mla_gallery size=icon mla_caption='<a href={+filelink_url+}>{+caption+}</a>' post_parent=all post_mime_type=application/ orderby="title" attachment_category="{+template:({+request:term_slug+}|a-bad-term)+}" link=file mla_nolink_text="Click a term to display the gallery."]

    Link of my page ‘Library’
    Library

Now let me explain it a little.

A have made categories that you can on top e.g. A-D, E-H so on.
And assign them to my files. That’s it.

Is it right way??because I thing there may be some other way to do this that I didn’t read.

Thank you again “Media Library Assistant”.

Thanks for your update with your solution and for posting the complete text of the shortcodes you developed as well as a link to the page on your site. Your combination of the tag cloud and gallery, using Att. Category terms to group your documents looks straightforward and effective. Congratulations!

As long as you remember to assign the proper term to each new document I think you have a good solution. It would be possible to create a custom plugin to automatically assign the term based on the document title, but you may not need that additional complexity.

I am marking this topic resolved because you have found a solution that works for your application, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions on the topic. Thanks again for your interest in the plugin and for an interesting application solution.
