• On the website I work with, the current version of wordpress is 6.5.4.

According to a plugin, which provides a widget, I should use the “block” of it again. The guide to find this block shows a widget page, where I should look for the block.

    1) I cannot search my widget page. In the screenshot made available by the plugin dev, it shows, I should.

    2) I should be able to exchange the widget with the block. But the block isn’t listed and there are no other blocks made available.

    3) I have no plugin installed like Classic Widget, that would prevent my website from showing blocks in the widget page.

    Can anyone help here?

  • Unfortunately, I don’t know what is shown in the screenshot you mentioned. Can you link it here?

My guess is that you have a block theme. This means that there are no more widgets. That’s why you won’t find anything in the backend under Appearance > Widgets. Just a guess, as I said. You could be told more precisely if you name the theme you are using and also show more about what the plugin developer has provided you with. You are also welcome to name the plugin in question so that we can take a look at it for you.

    @threadi – No, it’s not my screenshot.

I don’t have a block theme. And my problem is vice versa: I only see widgets, no blocks. But according to the dev of a plugin, I should see a block there provided by his plugin. That’s because the widget will be abandonded soon and I need to exchange (a block, instead of the widget). But I cannot see any blocks there, although I should since it is what wordpress supports.

And I’d would love to link you here and there. But the problem is since a few weeks the www.ads-software.com website is broken for me in every browser, with and without plugins. And I also get 429 error nearly everytime I click on any link or submit something in the support forums. So, this may explain my problem why I cannot link to the plugin nor to the screenshots.

The website I write for uses News Theme Pro if I remember correctly and uses also something called Genesis.

Since you are using a commercial theme, we cannot help you here in the forum. No one here has access to this theme and could look into it for you. Their support team will have to sort it out for you.

One more tip: change the theme to a standard theme. The last classic standard theme would be TwentyTwenty-One. There you should see the widget management with blocks. If not, it is the fault of a plugin you are using.

@threadi – For a quick I already did that. TwentyTenty-One activated and disabled all plugins.

Couldn’t see blocks in the widgets section, though.

Strange. It should actually look like this with this theme:

Have you activated a mu-plugin? You can see it under Plugins > Installed Plugins if there is a filter “must use” (or something similar in English).

Is there anything in the wp-config.php that seems strange? You can find a template here: https://github.com/WordPress/WordPress/blob/master/wp-config-sample.php

I cannot answer the config question. I am not in charge of the website and cannot check the sample. But for my eyes, “our” config seems normal and not strange.

No special plugins installed or activated.

The theme is also using own blocks, so it seems weird to imagine they turned the regular widget/block page off.

Then you should clarify this with those who are in charge of the website.

    It’s nothing strange in there.
